Institute of Life Sciences (ILS),Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals to join in the following position.

Projects Title: “National Wastewater Surveillance System for COVID-19”.

Position: 1. Project Associate-I: Bioinformatics (01 positions)

2. Project Associate-I: Wet lab (01 positions)

Remuneration: Rs. 31,000/- per month + @16% HRA

Job Specification: Position 1 – The person should be responsible for analyzing next-generation sequencing data.

Position 2 – To carry out nucleic acid extraction from sewage samples, library preparation, and performing next-generation sequencing.

Project duration: The project duration is for one year with a possible extension.

Eligibility & Selection:

Candidates having M.Sc. / M. Tech / M. Pharm. / M.V.Sc. or equivalent qualification in Life Sciences or allied subjects (Biochemistry/

Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology, Microbiology, etc.) with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (relaxation will be given as

per GOI guideline) are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to national-level entrance test (NET/GATE/GPAT) qualified candidates.

For nonnext/GATE candidates, the fellowship would be applicable as per DST guidelines. For bioinformaticians, the knowledge of programming language,

R-Bioconductor and NGS data analysis will be preferred.

The institute is located in close proximity to other research institutions in Bhubaneswar. The institute was earlier established on February 11, 1989, and was under the administrative and financial control of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Orissa.
