IISER Kolkata jobs - Project Fellow

Inviting application for the position of Project Fellow in MoES project Applications from highly motivated candidates are invited for a position of Project Fellow (one) to work in the most funded project ‘Attenuation structure of J&K Himalaya using Coda-Q tomography'. The objective of the project is to quantify seismic attenuation in the Jammu and Kashmir Himalayas using local earthquake waveforms recorded by a network of broadband seismological stations. The project position will be initially for a period of six months but could be extended subject to satisfactory performance.

2. Essential Qualifications: Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geophysics/Geology/Earth Sciences Physics and Mathematics as subsidiary/pass subjects in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Minimum of 55% marks in M.Sc.

3. Desirable Experience: Prior knowledge of UNIX/Linux computing, shell scripting, Fortran/ Matlab programming and use of Mapping Tools (e.g. GMT) is highly desired.

4. The salary for the Project Fellow will be Rs. 25000 per month (consolidated) as per the rules.
