This position will be responsible and accountable for execution of Varian Data and Analytics projects, delivering high quality software products within planned time frames and budgets.

This position is based in Pune-India. It requires regular interactions with team members and managers of cross-functional teams located in Pune, Baden, Winnipeg, Helsinki and Palo Alto. The project manager reports project progress to Senior Directors as well as global Vice Presidents.

Major Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and satisfactory completion of small to medium scale projects.
• Plan projects, including features, costs, timelines and quality.
• Regularly track project progress against established objectives and provide regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate
• Use project tracking tools like Jira, TFS or like to track project progress through data driven approach
• Extensively coordinate and synchronize activities between software engineering, quality engineering, product management, customer services and other cross-functions
• Work with functional managers to acquire necessary people resources. Drive each functional area through respective functional leads.
• Closely work with engineering teams on day to day basis. The candidate must be well-versed with software development, DevOps and Testing practices and must seek continuous process improvements
• Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Minimize project risks, maximize opportunities
• Actively resolve project hindrances and resolve/escalate issues in a timely fashion.
• Maintain up-to-date project documentation
• Ensure conformance to Varian’s quality policies and procedures
• Acts as a primary touch point on end to end SDLC process for the project team
• Coach scrum teams on scrum and agile practices (Prior scrum master experience is an added advantage)
• Be a servant leader by demonstrating capability to drive team towards results without direct reporting
  

Education: BE, MSc, MCA, Computer Science or related discipline.

Experience: 8-10 years of experience in the software industry, with proven 2+ years of prior experience in a project management role.

Knowledge/Skills

• Good understanding in the areas of software applications, databases and enterprise systems.
• Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
• Excellent ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong ability to plan and organize, with a systematic, structured and disciplined approach.
• Excellent communication and consensus building skills.
• Ability to drive decisions by bringing in appropriately detailed data points
• PMP or other project management certifications are a plus.
• Scrum Knowledge and an agile mindset is must have.
• Demonstrate hands-on skills in project tracking software like Jira, Rally, TFS, etc.
• Project management experience in product development projects will be added advantage. An exposure or experience with agile methodologies is preferable.
