Project Scientist - II job recruitment in Indian Institute of Astrophysics

No. of position : Three

Remuneration : Rs. 90,000/- per month (Consolidated)

Age : Below 40 years

Place of posting : Bangalore

Educational Qualification : Ph.D in Solar Physics from a reputed University/Institute or
should have submitted* thesis for the award of Ph.D.

Experience : Candidates should have carried out their research in solar physics using large data
bases. They should have the knowledge of IDL programming and should have developed codes
to analyse the large data bases automatically. Candidates with experience or knowledge of
observational astronomy will be preferred. They should have published at least two papers in
internationally reputed journals.

It traces its origins back to an observatory set up in 1786 at Madras which from the year 1792 began to formally function at its Nungambakkam premises as the Madras Observatory. In 1899, the observatory moved to Kodaikanal. In the year 1971, the Kodaikanal Observatory became an autonomous society, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
