To provide, coordinate and support the creation, editing and delivery of technical documentation by the Interpretation product team at Emerson.
Products covered include SeisEarth, Explorer, QSI, Workflows for Interpreters and associated modules, and future developments of interpretation applications in the ‘Next Gen’ portfolio.
Working closely with Product Management, the employee will be expected to:
take the lead on documentation of new functionalities developed by the team: directly by creating that documentation, and indirectly by working with and coordinating draft documentation by Product Managers and QA staff
editorialize bug fix documentation (release notes) generated by developers and QA staff
tasks to include rephrasing, reformatting, occasional image capturing.
exhibit an ability and willingness to proactively reach out to others for support, and coordinate information gathering as necessary.
regularly attend development (‘sprint planning’) meetings
meet deadlines associated with release note and release (‘online help’) documentation
This role would best suit a confident individual with a passion for concise, unambiguous communication of technical topics, and a good grasp of geoscience in general, especially geology and geophysics.
Requirements: Geoscience qualification (ideally seismic but with geological knowledge): degree level and above
3+ years’ experience in a related documentation and/or communication role
Strong communication and documentation skills, including the use of modern communication media and methodologies (especially web-based).
Excellent and precise written English
Good organizational skills
Independent, self-driven, and confident in interaction with senior staff.
