Your Role and Responsibilities
Site Reliability Engineering Manager

At Sales Incentives Systems, our mission is to equip IBM’s Global Sales Incentives & Sales with tools to drive sustained revenue growth by enabling the sales plan & go-to-market strategy.We are looking for a SRE Manager to lead a team that help to improve the reliability of our systems, through the implementation of automated solutions on the production operational environment.On the technical side you should have a strong background and opinions on distributed systems architecture, software development, systems theory and networking, and performance engineering including OS internals. You should have practical experience being responsible for production systems running at scale. You’ll be hands on and also represent the SRE perspective in architectural and other engineering discussions. You understand how complex systems fail and spend the time and effort educating others.On the non-technical side you should understand and believe that SRE is about product. You will be a champion of the SRE mindset which means spreading the culture and concepts of things like “psychological safety” and “just culture”.

You will:
• Provide key technical expertise and organizational leadership for understanding and improving the reliability of our services through reliability engineering practices.
• Lead system engineers to deliver reliable and high-performance services.
• Understand the evolving business environment to help establish mechanisms that ensures the availability of our services.
• Develop and grow team members who are ready and able to handle new things as they come across the horizon in this fast-paced environment.
• Foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration that gets the job done.
• Collaborate with software development, infrastructure and business operations teams to secure the delivery of value to the business.
• Handle complex incident situations with focus on the outcome (service restoration followed by root cause resolution).
• Identify and use new technology solutions to increase the reliability of our systems with an automated approach.
• Constantly challenge the status quo.
• Run blameless learning reviews and help continuously improve our processes across the board.



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or similar
• 4+ years of professional experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or similar role
• 2+ years of experience managing an SRE team or similar
• Demonstrate you have been responsible for production systems
• Have practice on agile methodologies
• Desire to learn
• Experienced with an incident management framework
• Knowledge of reliability tools and practices that supports requirements, design, integration and verification
• Fluent communication skills



Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience with Mainframe environments
