Merchandiser – Job Description

Role: Merchandiser
Department: Sales / Retail / Buying / Production
Main Purpose: To ensure the right products are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right price.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage product assortments according to customer demand and market trends.

• Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, buyers, and sales teams.

• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely replenishment.

• Prepare purchase orders and follow up on deliveries.

• Track sales performance and identify fast- and slow-moving products.

• Conduct market and competitor research.

• Assist with pricing, promotions, and product launches.

• Ensure products meet quality and company standards.

• Prepare sales, inventory, and performance reports.

• Resolve issues related to stock, delivery, quality, and product availability.

• Maintain good relationships with suppliers and customers.

• Work toward sales, margin, and inventory targets.

Required Skills

• Good communication and negotiation skills.

• Strong analytical and numerical ability.

• Knowledge of Excel and inventory-management systems.

• Good understanding of retail/market trends.
