For both our HQ location in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, and our location in Chennai , India, we are expanding our buying team and are currently looking for a Senior Buyer, located in Chennai, whose main purpose will be the international purchase of technical materials / components for our wind turbines. The focus is on the main electrical building blocks like converters, substations / transformers, rotor control cabinets and nacelle control cabinets. You will manage supplier relationships with key suppliers while contributing to defining and implementing the short and mid-term vision.
The senior buyer is part of the supply chain department and reports to the global supply chain manager. The supply chain department consists of procurement, expediting, planning and logistics.
Main responsibilities:
· Willing and able to challenge the current strategies of the main electrical building blocks to look for opportunities to reduce costs, decrease risk and/or improve reliability by introducing new technologies and/or new suppliers.
· Securing EWT’s dual sourcing strategy.
· Manage RFI & RFQ’s
· Negotiate & close contracts
· Assist with the global supply chain strategy
· Actively participate in value engineering projects
· Stakeholder management
· Excellent communication skills
· Work and plan with IFS (ERP system)
· Control orders and progress of suppliers.
· Ability to function within cross-functional teams.
· Take initiative to further optimize internal processes.
Requirements:
You preferably have a commercial and/or technical background at least at a bachelor level. You have a strong affinity and knowledge of electrical components, NEVI 1/2 or equivalent as part of your educational training is an advantage.
At least ten (10) years’ experience in international procurement of technical capital goods is required, as well as relevant commercial experience working with other cultures, preferably in Asia. We are looking for a candidate that has proven experience in the wind industry. There needs to be a willingness to travel up to 40%. You are familiar with ERP systems planning tools and production related documentation, possess commercial awareness and initiative.
You have the right mindset and capacity to positively influence others. You possess strong analytical and project management skills. Your excellent communications skills will ensure strong stakeholder engagement and you are result driven and you have a “can-do” mentality.
