Series Systems Engineer

Location: India, Bangalore

Responsibilities :

Performing IBM i administration, including system installs, deployment, software installation, and configuration.
Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, analysis and required tuning
Testing operating system and application software releases, and loading fixes in both test and productions environments
Developing and maintaining procedures for system utilities, such as backups, restores, and configurations and performing daily and weekly backups of production systems and other backups as required.
Install, upgrade, configure, test and maintain 3rd party software application such as BRMS, ROBOT, Mimix etc.
Maintain Disaster Recovery Plan in accordance to our security team requirements , Coordinate and Perform Disaster Recovery Testing
Implement the internal and external auditing requirements
Patch maintenance and troubleshooting -- Keeping up-to-date patch-levels as per policies.
Prepare, Plan and Implement OS Upgrade and troubleshoot upgrade issues
HMC and LPAR management, which includes the Firmware upgrades, Service pack upgrades, CoD etc.
Maintenance of all IBM i systems and related hardware
Maintenance of communication between IBM I systems
Interact with vendors on regular basis to resolve technical issues
Define and identify key business metrics or indicators that drive server resource utilization
Maintain optimal storage of the IBM i servers by running regular housekeeping jobs.
Provide support for Application team in running production critical jobs and reports.
Troubleshooting backup failures and perform recovery activities to maintain zero data loss
Perform Security and user authority administration

Requirements :

5+ year of knowledge of IBM iSeries system administration and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of IBM iSeries networked systems, access and security guidelines and procedures.
Understanding of internal controls and change management processes.
Skill in solving technically challenging problems involving IBM iSeries based application and hardware issues.
Knowledge in ROBOT - Advantage
software development skills in at least one of: RPG, ILE or COBOL - Advantage
