The Role: Sr Data Associate- Governments Data/Content Management
The Team
The S&P Global Ratings Data and Content Management team is a new team tasked with unlocking data & delivering content to our analysts and customers. The team acts as the main point of engagement with our customers on projects, including analytical partners, to discover and drive new and enhanced content creation through definitions, lineage, mapping, readiness, and inventory. The team ensures availability of content and its end-to-end completeness and quality for both internal and external use, according to our governance standards, enabling customers to make fast, informed decisions. The team sits within our Operating Office, as part of the broader Data & Content team, and works in close partnership with many teams throughout the Ratings organization (including strategic operations, technology, analytical, commercial, etc.) and cross-divisional with CRISIL and Market Intelligence.
The Impact
You will be a Senior Data Associate with the Governments Data and Content Management team will serve as the primary point of contact for “all things content” related to your team across a broad spectrum of stakeholders. You have the opportunity to collaborate with the team responsible for advancing, increasing, and delivering the end-to-end content flow within Governments (US Public Finance, International Public Finance, and Sovereigns),to help drive our analytic capabilities, customer satisfaction, business results and growth.
Responsibilities
- Pursues professional growth and provides developmental opportunities for others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback; building collaborative, cross-functional relationships; delegating tasks and decisions; fostering open dialogue amongst departments;
- Perform tasks supporting the translation of business requirements; determining data and information needs;
- Partner with Analytical, Commercial, Methodologies, SIO and Ratings Technology teams to create data readiness of Governments dataset;
- Understand the roadmap of RatingsDirect product and Ratings 360 product and how existing ratings data fits in and how it may enrich current content offerings;
- Ensure your team works in tight coordination with the Ratings Technology team, to ensure project deliverable are on-time and commensurate with requirements;
- Interact with internal and external clients as necessary;
- Working with business stakeholders, data visualization and reporting specialists and/or data scientists to determine analytics data consumption mechanisms;
- Help develop data inventory by being knowledgeable about practice analytical data;
- Undertake data field mapping; support maintenance of data dictionary; Understand and maintains global Governments mnemonic dictionary;
- Support impact analysis development in an SME consulting role; i.e. a holistic view of impact across the data ecosystem on Data, Applications, Systems, Operational teams changes either through projects, enhancements, vendor changes;
- Allow for interpretation of data analyses by reviewing the application of findings to contextual settings.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of data governance or data management experience with technical skills required (e.g. data querying, data analysis)
- Intermediate-advanced Python, SQL and MS Excel skills with VBA preferred
- Financial data knowledge, with direct experience within Public Finance or GASB preferred
- Familiarity with database architecture and ability to manipulate large data sets
- Content product & distribution experience a plus
- Strong influential, negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills;
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Agile (scrum) experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3+ years of experience
