Ø Implementing plans through tasks such as preparing patients for operations, wound treatment
and monitoring pulse, blood pressure and temperature.
Ø Observing and recording the condition of patients.
Ø Checking and administering drugs and injections.
Ø Setting up drips and blood transfusions.
Ø Assisting with tests and evaluations.
Ø Carrying out routine investigations.
Ø Responding quickly to emergencies.
Ø Planning discharges from hospital and liaising with GPs and Social Workers.
Ø Communicating with and relieving the anxiety of patients and their relatives.
Ø Advocating on behalf of patients.
Ø Educating patients about their health.
Ø Organizing staff and prioritizing busy workloads.
Ø Mentoring student and junior nurses.
Ø Maintaining patient records.
