Job Description:
- Maintains and monitors backup server hardware; tape
libraries and associated tape hardware;
- Manage daily operation of Backup,restore and media
management on Backup Software
- Familiar with WIndow Platform / unix Platform / Virtual
Platform for configuring the backup
- Collobration with other Team member for IT backup operation
- Effectively communicate with vendors and technical support
to solve system issues
- Maintaining and expanding the existing Backup strategy and
infrastructure
- Working directly with colleagues to maintain and evolve the
Disaster Recovery Planning, Testing and Response for the Enterprise
- Leveraging the Backup Infrastructure for Operational
efficiency, including data staging, recovery and hardware migration
- Applies patches to device firmware, backup Tape library etc
- storng Troubleshooting skill on bakcup softwares.
- Provide routine backup and recovery of data with respect to
the IT Infrastructure
- Periodically monitor the log generated by the backup tool
and take appropriate actions
- Monitor the performance of scheduled backups, schedule
testing of backups as per policy agreed with customer during transition and enable the
adherence to related retention policies
- Review backup logs to verify successful completion of backup
- Notify for any backup failures
- Perform restoration drill as per the schedule agreed
- Use media rotation procedures for tapes or other backup
media after pre-determined usage or age thresholds and after taking necessary
copies
- Monitor and maintain tape media and tape drive for
reliability to avoid read/write errors
- Maintain an inventory control system to properly manage
tapes in storage as well as those stored off-site
- Initialize and label new tapes based on the policy
- Maintain the catalogue of files held on tapes for each
system based on the policy provided
