The Hitachi ABB Power Grids Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 900 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi ABB Power Grid’s units in more than 25 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 60 countries.
Your Responsibilities
- Checking Hitachi ABB Power Grids and supplier routine test reports for compliance towards norms and customer specification and is archive the documentation in Hitachi ABB power grids systems.
- Collecting of Hitachi ABB power grids and supplier routine test reports for submission to the end customer, in-line with the customer specification (quality plan).
- Planning of the in-line with the project schedule (plan according timeline in MDB).
- Reporting that are missing or incorrect in infoQS / SAP are followed up with Internal & external supplier contacts.
- Keeping the Project Manager up to date in case of delays.
- Supporting Project Managers to clarify in case of questions from customer.
- Finally accepted Hitachi ABB power grids and supplier routine test reports by customer are uploaded in SAP.
- Retrieval of Hitachi ABB Power Grids and supplier test reports from traceability dossiers (if we have a quality case, we need to find the supplier test reports related to the impacted part).
- Maintenance / Support of the supplier report database (Outlook based Repository called Info.QS).
- Ensure reports are properly ordered & classified and provide user support in case of user questions.
- Support improvements (CIP) to streamline the process (material flow and documentation flow).

Your background
- A Bachelor degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- 3-6 Years of experience in the relevant field.
- Knowledge in High Voltage Switchgear Preferably Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS).
- Knowledge in the norms related to Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) (e.g. IEC, ANSI, IEEE).
- Basic Understanding of GIS drawings.
- Understanding a GIS project bill of material (to find the parts used in the project).
- Understanding a GIS customer quality specification (ITP, Quality Plan).
- IT affinity to identify and implement possibilities to automate the process.
