Job Description

The role of the Support Engineer – Level 1 requires an exceptional individual who possesses the ability to support both the human and technical sides of technology. The Support Engineer – Level 1 will rely on excellent client service, problem solving, and communication skills to provide helpdesk support to resolve most day-to-day issues. Success in this role requires a well-rounded individual with a genuine enthusiasm for technology and keen interest in helping people achieve more through the careful adoption and support of information technologies.

Role

(Specific tasks and the role that the person will undertake)

Provide remote helpdesk support, via phone, remote control and through our ticketing system, for most issues related to server and desktop software, hardware and peripherals

Generally, the first point of contact for all inbound client phone calls and tickets to the Help Desk

Maintain close contact and open communication with clients until an issue has been resolved

Work within our ticketing system to create detailed work logs

Timely escalation of issue to next level

Proactive infrastructure monitoring to identify and resolve issues before downtime occurs

Conduct technical support in line with documented procedures

Provide System Administrator with regular updates on common problems encountered and identify possible longer-term solutions/improvements to reduce future problems

Ongoing training in new technologies and methodologies, as well as for vendor certification

 

Experience

(Relevant must have experience)

1+ year of experience working in a technical support, help desk or IT support position required Industry certifications, this can include A+/N+ mandatory

Candidate having ITIL foundation certification would be an added advantage

MCTS/RHCE/MCITP optional

Prerequisites to hire

Open to work in rotational and night shift environment

Must be above 21 years of age

Excellent command over English (Verbal & Written)

Flexible and willing to come on Weekends and Holidays

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to communicate and present ideas in user-friendly language to both technical and non-technical clients and staff as needed

Ability to work collaboratively with peers

Ability to deliver outstanding customer service, demonstrate professionalism while maintaining composure in stressful situations

Must be able to resolve issues in short turnaround time
