Job Summary

EXFO is seeking a seasoned System Engineer who has extensive technical experience supporting the sales efforts for high-value, IP-based, networking solutions at multiple levels within various fixed line and wireless telecommunications service providers. Highly developed organizational and people skills are a must as you will be establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with large, high profile accounts. This position requires a person who can display strong knowledge in a number of technologies, can operate under minimal supervision, is a self-motivated, fast learner, and is highly competent in communicating technology concepts with customers, partners, sales, and fellow employees.

What You’ll Do

• Deliver product, services and consultative support to prospective and existing clients.
• Own entire pre-sales technical cycle, including assisting sales manager in closing the sale.
• Meet or exceed regional support, sales, and business development objectives in collaboration with the regional sales team.
• In focus on NFV SDN/SD-WAN and/or complex customer asks, map customer problems and needs into solution mappings, new offerings and work closely with Engineering.
• Use technical and business writing skills to respond to technical portions of new business proposals, e.g. RFP/RFI, especially on complex new solutions, tailored to new technologies.
• Provide Pre-Sales product Proof of Concept (POC) oversight to ensure client is successful with products and understands product capabilities. This includes planning, staging, installing, and managing the POC process.
• Develop and deliver product presentations at customers, conferences and other venues as required.
• Provide network analysis and design at all levels, including NFV, SD WAN, 5G use cases.
• Understand customer needs, relevant data, to be able to design the optimal solution to solve the addressed needs.
• Own assigned accounts or strategic partners from an overall customer satisfaction perspective.
• Help to drive the process governance across EMEA SA Pre-Sales teams.
  

Technical Skills

What we’re looking for

• Distributed computing and design
• Hands on implementation experience & ability to do basic configuration & troubleshooting on Database servers, IP routers etc.
• Good understanding of OSS architecture, used tools and processes
• Good understanding of Operator processes as well as ITIL and eTOM
• Familiar with OSS/BSS domains, systems and typical Use Cases (e.g. Network Assurance, Configuration Management, CRM and Billing, Work Order Management, Order-to-Provisioning)
• Experience in solution design of OSS solutions would be a plus
• Knowledgeable in NFV, “Orchestrated” and SDN/SD-WAN network technology
• Knows the industry discussion around “Zero Touch” and Telco in the Cloud
• IP based Voice, Data, and Video Network design and architectures
• Familiar with network monitoring and/or test tools
• Familiarity with IP routing protocols including RIPv2, ISIS and BGP
• Knowledge of softswitch network design and service delivery including VoIP
• Strong Knowledge of database domains like Oracle RDMS, MySQL, Linux (eg. Redhat, SUSE ) , Big Data concepts & common Open source platforms
• Strong knowledge of IP Networking , Switching & Routing Fundamentals, Understanding on WAN, LAN etc.
• Ideally worked for a Communication Service Provider in Operations or OSS Engineering.
• Working with Network Operator, or as Consultant on-site would be a plus
• Working with data/voice products or OSS software company

Must have

• Education: University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical studies, Certification on CCNP, CCIE, Linux, etc. will be preferred.
• Pertinent experience: 5+ years experience in the Telecommunications industry in Fixed Line & Wireless.
• Language requirement: Fluent with English both written and spoken.
