A Career with Client’s Tax Team
The Tax team conducts tax research and planning projects and oversees Clients' tax compliance for 30+ funds, 75+ private equity and management companies, and high net worth individuals and tax-exempt organizations. The Tax team manages all tax-related projects with outside counsel, public accounting firms, and within Client. The Tax team coordinates with Big Four accounting firms to prepare and review partnership, corporate, individual, international and state returns.
Due to the complex structure of Client, members of the India-based division of the Tax Team will be able to gain broad exposure to a variety of projects within tax compliance and operations.
What you’ll do
- Prepare and perform initial reviews of various taxworkpapers, partnership allocations, and tax estimates to assist U.S.-based tax professionals with the tax compliance process as needed
- Operate proprietary internal software and automation to generate Schedules K-1 and tax return templates to be used by external tax advisors to prepare tax returns
- Ad-hoc queries from other departments, including (but not limited to) questions around foreign dividend withholding tax, ECI implications of trading publicly traded partnerships, and review of the tax consequences of corporate actions
- Assist U.S.-based tax professionals with projects related to tax structuring, research, and planning
- Exposure to a hedge fund, private equity, venture capital, management company, and exempt organization tax returns and issues
What’s required
- 0-3 years of work experience
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong accounting skills preferred; CA or Master’s in Tax a plus
- Extensive Computer and Technology experience and skills including:
o Excellent Microsoft Excel skills required; ability to build macros using VBA a plus
o Ability and capacity to quickly learn and understand new internally developed software
o Knowledge of SQL and another programming languages a plus
o Experience with Thomson Reuters GoSystems RS a plus
- Experience within financial services or asset management preferred but not required
- Excellent English language skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak clearly to effectively convey accounting and tax conclusions and to ask relevant questions in clear language while working with U.S. colleagues to perform daily work
- Exceptional organizational skills to effectively manage shifting priorities, with a focus on clearly and frequently communicating with superiors
- Superior problem-solving skills and ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- A highly analytical mindset and a strong work ethic
- Self-starter with impeccable attention to detail
- Interest in working with technology and automation
