Job Description

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the post of a Technical Officer to conduct vegetable research and extension services to implement its vegetable improvement program with smallholder farmers in Assam under the “Technical Partnership to Support the Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation (APART) Project” funded by the World Bank. The Technical Officer will be based in Sonitpur, Assam, India.

Qualifications and experience: Diploma/Degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/Botany and at least 2 years’ working experience in projects related to vegetables.

General : This is a Consolidated position for one year, renewable further depending on performance and the project’s continuing need for the position.

Competencies:Good working knowledge of agriculture especially local vegetable cultivation;Strong written and verbal communication skills in Assamese and English;Skilled use of various software (MS Word, MS Excel, ) and exposure to handling variety evaluation trials;Energetic and enthusiastic personality with an urge to improve agricultural systems.Strong team player and willing to work as part of an extended team comprising several agencies.
