The Hitachi ABB Power Grids Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 900 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi ABB Power Grid’s units in more than 25 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 60 countries.

Your Responsibilities

• Taking complete responsibility for the tenders prepared from IN operation center with appropriate inputs from the different stakeholders of the team in-line with LOM tendering process seeking necessary inputs from the operating units tendering team.
• Strive to get confidence from operating units & their satisfaction by providing competitive tendering support.
• Knowledge in assessing the pre-qualification requirements and supporting the tendering team for bid/No bid decision.
• Create and review tender solution strategy. Target pricing in discussion with operating units.
• Full understanding of single line diagrams & equipment arrangement layouts. Reviewing the proposals towards optimized and customized solutions for various substation tenders (AIS, GIS, Hybrid). Innovative ideas to prepare a cost effective solution.
• Technical data sheets verification of primary equipment. Knowledge of primary equipment, such as circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, instrument transformers, power transformers, etc. with minimal support from Engineering team.
• Collaborate with SCM having good understanding about strategic sourcing and do Vendor Offer evaluations. Finalize the tender sourcing plan appropriately.
• Use creativity wherever appropriate to provide best solutions for the given situation within the framework of tender. Continuously develop standard templates and collate databases for tendering.
• Analyze risk probability & severity of the tenders from technical, commercial, contractual perspectives & drive the mitigation strategy liaising with the different disciplines.
• Should play a vital role in presenting the risk review process and getting the approval from different management levels based on the tender volume & the risks involved.
• Able to review Cash flow documents and the inputs from Contracts & legal teams and take conclusive decisions during submissions.
• Taking active participation in client meetings, coordinate for site visit inputs & compiling the pre-bid clarifications for submission and disseminate the information to different stakeholders of the tender.
• Ensure proper handover of orders to the execution team. Perform lost proposal analysis, identify potential cause, and recommend future actions in cooperation with corresponding supplying unit(s) to obtain better future results.
• Good Understanding of sales process, sales tools & techniques, market & business intelligence, sales drive. Supporting sales strategy & facilitating capture team selling.
• Plan, implement, review and continuously improvise quality system.
• Responsible & need to have a tab on maintaining the KPIs to the target levels as per IN operation center’s definitions.

Your background

• A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7-10 years experience in in substation tendering and project engineering activities (technical & commercial).
• Knowledge of ABB Product & System offerings.
• Experience and skill to prepare and support Bid Process.
• Able to derive or identify the various substations in the system (Number of Bulk Sub stations (BSS),Traction Substations (TSS) and Service Substations (SSS)) from the customer specifications with Voltage levels.
• Good knowledge on Trackside equipment to connect with 3rd rail.
