About Khaana Chahiye Foundation
Khaana Chahiye Foundation is a Mumbai based non-profit organisation working towards solving the issue of hunger. It was launched as a people-driven relief operation during the Covid-19 lockdown in Mumbai which grew into a people's movement. It is co-founded by Ruben Mascarenhas, Shishir Joshi, Anik Gadia, Neeti Goyal, Rakesh Singh, Swaraj Shetty and Pathik Muni. For the first 8 months of its operations, the campaign was supported by non-government organisations: Bharat Utthan Sangh, Litmus Test Project and Project Mumbai. In November 2020, it was incorporated as Khaana Chahiye Foundation and registered as a non-profit entity. This organisation aims to combat hunger by collaborating with stakeholders like the government, civil society and industry. As a collective, we are conducting a policy intervention to map the vulnerable clusters of the city. We distribute relief material every Sunday across Mumbai and Thane under our #SundayForMumbai and #SundayForThane campaigns.
