Assistant Professor Grade-I/ Assistant Professor Grade-II/ Associate
Professor in the School of Engineering (SE). job Position in IIT Mandi on temporary basis
Areas for Assistant Professor Grade-I, Assistant Professor Grade-II, and Associate
Professor: Transportation Engineering: Mountain and high altitude roads, Intelligent and Resilient
systems Environmental Science and Engineering: Climate change, Ecological engineering,
Waste management and Pollution control, Mountain hydrology, Flood risk mitigation in
mountain basins, water resources, environment and watershed management, use of
Remote Sensing and GIS for environment. Structural & Geotechnical Engineering: Building materials, Advanced structural
mechanics and design, Health monitoring, Ground improvement, Slope-engineering and
Retaining structures, Soil mechanics .
A Ph.D. degree is necessary for a faculty position at IIT Mandi; however, candidates who
have submitted their Ph.D. thesis recently or are close to completing their Ph.D. degree may also
apply for the posts of Assistant Professor Grade-I and Assistant Professor Grade-II. The
candidate must have completed a BTech degree in the relevant area, except for the area of
Environmental Science and Engineering, in which case a BTech or MSc degree in the relevant
area will be acceptable.
The essential qualification, experience, and pay scale for the post of Associate Professor
are given below:Essential qualifications
Ph.D. in a relevant area with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree with
consistently good academic record throughout. The candidate must have completed a BTech
degree in the relevant area, except for the area of Environmental Science and Engineering, in
which case a BTech or MSc degree in the relevant area will be acceptable.
Experience:A minimum of 6 years teaching/research/professional experience of which at least three
years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in an academic institution or equivalent
position in a research organization or industry at the time of screening and shortlisting the
applications. The candidate should have demonstrated adequate experience of independent
research in terms of guidance of PhD students, strong research record, including publications in
highly reputed peer reviewed journals, patents, laboratory/course development, sponsored
research projects and/or other recognized relevant professional activities. Candidates who do not
fulfil such minimum experience requirements may be offered appointment at the Assistant
Professor Grade – I or Assistant Professor Grade – II level, depending upon the academic
credentials
