Job description
The system operator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of computer systems, networks, and related infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. They play a critical role in maintaining the stability and functionality of IT systems, responding to technical issues, and implementing preventive measures to minimize downtime and disruptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor computer systems, servers, networks, and peripheral devices to ensure smooth operation and detect any issues or abnormalities.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including system backups, software updates, and hardware upgrades, to keep systems running efficiently.
- Monitor system performance metrics, such as CPU usage, memory utilization, and network bandwidth, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues reported by users or detected through monitoring tools.
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting common IT problems, answering inquiries, and resolving technical issues promptly.
- Escalate complex or critical issues to senior technical staff or external vendors for resolution.
- Security and Data Protection:
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect systems, networks, and data from unauthorized access, cyber threats, malware, and other security risks.
- Monitor security logs, perform vulnerability assessments, and apply security patches and updates to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational security policies.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and incident reports.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, uptime, incidents, and resolution status for management review and decision-making purposes.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize the impact of system failures, data loss, or other disruptions.
- Conduct periodic tests and drills of disaster recovery plans to validate their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
Skills and Qualifications:
