IITB Project Recruitment:
Project title: Sustainable cutting fluid Technology for micro Deep-hole drilling
About the project: This project explores the use of micro/nanobubble-mixed cutting fluids as a novel
sustainable solution both to address the chip evacuation and to enhance the during the micro-drilling
process. A detailed investigation will be conducted to obtain fundamental knowledge of the effect of
bubble size, concentration, and motion on the ejection force on the clogged chips as well as on the
effective heat transfer coefficient during the micro-drilling process. The effectiveness of the proposed
solution will be demonstrated by drilling high aspect-ratio micro-holes in difficult-to-machine materials
such as steel and titanium alloys.
