We, at YOLO believe that change is inevitable and so is social media. In the light of ongoing pandemic, we took a giant leap to encourage the youth to build upon their online skills as well as participate in initiatives which can bring a positive impact in the society.
We have been working for COVID relief work through disseminating hyperlocal verified information, busting fake news and helping fulfil basic requirements like ration requests as well as blood donation requests.
We work through district specific Facebook groups, titled as ‘My Pincode’ through which verified local information is provided to the members.
My Pincode groups cover each district in India.
We have been successful in bringing the impact of social media on ground too.
In the past 4 months, we have fulfilled more than 40,000 ration requests all over India and 500+ blood donation requests. We plan to further have more on ground projects via My Pincode Groups.
We run social media campaigns which in turn give us results on ground.
Our campaign #NorthEastMatters has become one of prominence.
The campaign calls out the discrimination happening against North Eastern States of India.
This hashtag campaign is running on three social media platforms; Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
Recently, our team has also accepted the WHO challenge #WearAMaskChallenge along with the renowned cricket player Mr. Yuvraj Singh. Additionally, our Project Paper Bridge aims to set up 1,000 libraries in disadvantaged districts of India.
We have successfully established 282 libraries including Naxal affected districts. Our upcoming libraries are going to be in the North Eastern States of India.
HOW DO WE DO IT?
All interns get to undergo various online training sessions, participate in building social campaigns, and interact with eminent personalities through live sessions.
This builds up their social media skills as well other management skills which are of utmost importance in all the professions.
The work of an intern is going to be to participate in all the campaigns of YOLO and bring up new ideas to promote these campaigns.
Remember, the motto is to Learn, Experiment and Expand.
